It really is that simple

Why are we the best country in the world, why do people from democratic foreign countries willingly give up their citizenship to become Naturalized American citizens, why are we so hated around the world?

Because when a baby girl falls down a well people from all over the country bring their expertise to her successful rescue, when nine miners are trapped we stand still until they are all brought out alive, a missing pregnant woman generates prayer and a massive search, brides, and their families, in our country aren’t held hostage for “wedding gifts” to keep the bride alive, we don’t sexually mutilate our women, we can honor the Creator in our own way, at the occurrence of natural disasters in the countries of our enemies we send aid, and when terrorists hijack commercial aircraft we all come together as a people to rescue strangers and open our hearts and wallets to aid the survivors.

That thugs and terrorists and renegades don’t like us is a good sign.  It means we’re doing something right.

Perhaps because it is such a simple answer is why there are still some who just don’t get it.

Evil Little Taxes

A taxing question: Paper or plastic?

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/183041_papered.html

I’m sorry but taxing plastic grocery bags is a very bad idea.

I have a cleaning service and my plastic grocery bags get used three times before disposal: the first time with groceries from the store, the second time I put a batch of freshly laundered cleaning cloths in it, and the third time is when I use it for the dirty cleaning cloths.

Some of my clients are thrifty and re-use their plastic grocery for trash, sometimes they are used as luggage, and a lot are used at thrift stores.   Most of us see the ubiquitous plastic grocery bag as a very useful item.

If a customer brings a used plastic bag back to the store they risk having the bag break and their groceries damaged or destroyed and there is also the risk of a bag breaking and canned goods injuring someone.

One can smugly say that every shopper can bring their own re-usable shopping bags when they shop for groceries but the reality is that not all shoppers can or will do that.

I would really like folks to stop finding evil little ways to tax small luxuries like a designer cuppa joe or the plastic grocery bag.  It isn’t becoming.

Fate caught up with me when I looked my boss in the eye and told him it was the year 2002 in the United States of America when he told me to make coffee.  After that it went down hill.  Terminated for cause – insubordination.  Hell hath no fury like a boss who has just been ‘dissed’.  Everything was liquidated while I tried to decide what I wanted to be when I grew up.  Rough year while I fought the tides of financial ruin………

Seattle and I have both learned to survive the slings and arrows of misfortune.  But Seattle needs to remember who provides the funds for their many politically correct expenditures.  It isn't the undocumented aliens sending millions south each year while drawing on social services.  Seattle elected leaders need to get their collective heads out of their rectums and stop providing a free ride for the drunk and drugged and illegals standing on the corners of downtown Seattle.
